Dr Willmar Schwabe Award 2022 goes to Dr Simone Moser, LMU Munich

16.09.2022 - The Dr Willmar Schwabe Award, which is sponsored by our company, was first presented by the GA – Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research, one of the world’s most important scientific societies in phytoresearch, back in 1961.

Every two years, a scientist is presented with this award in recognition of their outstanding achievements in phytopharmacological or phytotherapeutic research. This year, the award, worth €10,000, was presented during the opening ceremony of the annual congress in Thessaloniki by Prof. Judith Rollinger, President of the Society, and by Dr Martin Lehner, Director Preclinical R&D of the Schwabe Group.

Award ceremony of the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Awards 2022 with winner Dr. Simone Moser and the laudators Dr. Martin Lehner and Prof. Dr. Judith Rollinger.

The recipient, Dr Simone Moser, a member of the research group headed by Prof. Vollmar at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, was awarded for her innovative and pioneering research aimed at discovering and characterising phyllobilins, a new class of substance that can be found in various medicinal plants, and their therapeutic potential.

For Dr Moser and her research work, the scientific community is thus sending out an important signal and we, as the sponsor of the prize, are delighted to be able to contribute to the promotion of academic research in the field of phytomedicine.

The winners of the Dr Willmar Schwabe Award since 1961 include some of the world’s foremost professors in this field today. We hope that this award will also represent an important milestone on Dr Moser’s career path.
