At the International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), we were proud to celebrate two outstanding scientists. The jury selected Prof. Paul Spagnuolo and Dr. Lorenz Waltl as the recipients of the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award and the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Young Talent Prize, respectively.
🏆 Prof. Paul Spagnuolo (University of Guelph, Canada) receives the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Award, endowed with €10,000, for his groundbreaking research on naturally derived bioactive compounds that target and inhibit cancer cell fatty acid oxidation, opening promising new avenues for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
🌱 Dr. Lorenz Waltl (Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria) receives the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Young Talent Prize, endowed with €2,000, in recognition of his innovative research into the therapeutic potential of natural products through mechanistic and translational phytopharmacology, exemplified by his work on diterpenoids from Mitrephora glabra.
Congratulations to both award recipients on their outstanding achievements. We wish them continued success in their scientific journey.
