Schwabe Group has appointed Tobias Boldt as Chief Commercial Officer, effective April 1st, 2027. Boldt will succeed Dr. Anke Balzer, who will focus more on her family beginning in summer 2027.

Anke Balzer developed a commercial strategy that gave our Group a clear direction. She also reshaped our regional organizations so that this direction could truly reach our markets,” said Olaf Schwabe, CEO of Schwabe Group. “What I value most is that she never did this from behind a desk. She knew the people in our markets and understood what mattered to them. That laid a strong foundation for collaboration, both within the Management Board and with our regional teams.”

“What impressed me personally was the way she did it: with a genuine connection to the teams in our markets and with a style of collaboration on the Management Board marked by mutual trust and clear communication,” Schwabe continued. “Within the Management Board, Anke Balzer consistently made sure that ideas turned into action: what needed to happen, and who needed to take the next step. This enabled us to address many difficult issues and make important strategic decisions for the successful future of the Group.”

Boldt joins Schwabe from Bayer, where he most recently served as Cluster Head Consumer Health Germany & Austria and CEO of Bayer subsidiary Natsana.

“Tobias Boldt is an internationally experienced executive with more than 20 years of experience in Consumer Health, OTC, Animal Health, and direct-to-consumer business,” said Olaf Schwabe. “He combines deep market and industry expertise with strategic clarity, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a strong ability to execute. He is exactly the person we need at Schwabe Group.”

Boldt has spent his entire career to date at Bayer, where he held a range of leadership roles across Europe and Asia, as well as global responsibilities. Among other positions, he led the successful repositioning and growth of businesses in the Philippines and Poland and managed an international consumer goods portfolio.

As Cluster Head Consumer Health Germany & Austria, Boldt was responsible for Bayer’s OTC business in both markets. In this role, he drove the omnichannel transformation, expanded data-driven management models, and improved growth and profitability. With the acquisition of HiDoc Technologies in 2025, the cluster also expanded its business to include Bayer’s first digital health application for irritable bowel syndrome.

Alongside his role as Cluster Head, Boldt also took on additional responsibility for new business models and digital growth platforms.

As CEO of Natsana, Bayer’s global direct-to-consumer business for dietary supplements, he oversaw the acquisition and integration of several subsidiaries as well as the business’s financial repositioning. During this period, Natsana achieved strong double-digit growth. Together with his team, Boldt also developed a long-term growth strategy and accelerated the build-out of a scalable DTC platform for Europe and China, establishing leading positions in key online channels, including Amazon.

“What convinced me most about Schwabe is the combination of scientific focus, long-term entrepreneurship, and a culture built on trust,” said Boldt. “After many years at Bayer, which I look back on with great gratitude, I am looking forward to a new chapter. In my conversations at Schwabe, I met people who work with real commitment, a strong sense of responsibility, and a genuine desire to shape the future. I am very much looking forward to becoming part of this team and together exploring new growth opportunities for Schwabe.”
